How do I list something for sale directly from my wallet on Nifty Gateway Studio (NGS)?
On NGS, users have the option to list supported items directly from their external wallet for ETH. Here are the steps to do so:
- Sign up for an NGS Account.
- Connect your external wallet to our platform.
- Navigate to your profile and select the item that you want to list and click “list for sale".
- Your external wallet will prompt you to grant approval for our exchange contract to transfer your item. Once approved, your item will be successfully.
How exactly are the gas fees cheaper on NGS than other platforms?
Executing a sale from one wallet to another requires multiple different steps. On other platforms, each of these steps are executed onchain, leading to high gas costs. On NGS, we’ve taken advantage of our custodial infrastructure to move as many steps of the wallet to wallets sales process off chain as possible. Less on chain steps = lower gas fees.
How does NGS’s wallet-to-wallet purchasing work?
Our wallet-to-wallet purchasing uses the best parts of our custodial infrastructure in order to create a cheaper and easier experience for collectors. To list something for sale that is held in your Ethereum wallet, you will first have to give our onchain proxy contract permission to transfer your item in the event of a sale.
We will release a dashboard where you can see and manage the permissions you have set from your Ethereum wallet. The only circumstance where an item will be transferred by our proxy contract is in the event of a sale.
Does this require me to deposit my items into an NGS custody account?
No, this system allows you to list items for sale while they remain in your Ethereum wallet. To do so, you must grant NGS temporary permission to transfer the item if it sells. As part of the process, you’ll also need to use your Ethereum wallet to sign a message verifying the sale details.
Can I list an item for sale on NGS and other marketplaces at the same time?
Yes! Items held in your wallet can be listed for sale concurrently on NGS and any other marketplace of your choosing.
When will an item be transferred out of my wallet by the NGS proxy contract?
The only time an item will be transferred out of your wallet by the NGS proxy contract is in the event of an item being sold. You can track all transfers made by our system by looking at our proxy smart contract onchain. There are no other cases where an item will be moved by our proxy contract.
How secure is the NGS proxy contract?
The proxy contract is secured by the same system that is used to secure billions of dollars worth of crypto currency. You can read an in depth summary of how our custody system works here.
Do I need to worry about canceling stale listings on NGS when I move an item from one wallet to another?
No. When you transfer an item out of a wallet it is held in, all listings made from that wallet will automatically get canceled. Please be aware that this only applies to listings on NGS, and any outstanding listings on other platforms may still be valid if you transfer out to those platforms.
If my NGS account is taken over, can items in my wallet be stolen?
No. Even if your NGS account is taken over, the items held in your Ethereum wallet will be completely safe. There is no way for an attacker who has access to your NGS account to steal items held in your Ethereum wallet because listing an item for sale requires a signature from your wallet.
