Main Product FAQ:
How do I list something for sale directly from my wallet on Nifty Gateway?
The wallet to wallet feature (“w2w”) is now available on Nifty Gateway. In order to list NFTs from an external wallet you must:
- Sign up for a Nifty Gateway Account
- Connect your external wallet to our platform
- Navigate to your profile and select the NFT that you want to list and click “list for sale”
- Your external wallet should prompt you to set approval for our exchange contract to transfer your NFT, and after your approval, your NFT will be listed!
Do I have to pay gas to list or delist an NFT for sale on Nifty Gateway?
You will never pay to delist an NFT. The only time you will pay for gas is when you need to approve the exchange contract the first time you try listing an NFT collection, and after that, listing and delisting any items in the approved collection costs no gas!
How are gas fees on Nifty Gateway lower than gas fees on other marketplaces?
We’ve custom built our contract to optimize for lower transaction costs, saving our customers up to 70% in gas fees.
The key thing that differentiates the NG sales process from the OS sales process is the amount of steps that happen on chain. With an OS sales process, order validation and order settlement both happen on chain. The user pays gas costs for both of those things while on NG, only order settlement happens on chain, not order validation.
Can I list an item for sale on Nifty Gateway and other marketplaces at the same time?
Yes! Items held in your wallet can be listed for sale concurrently on Nifty Gateway and any other marketplace of your choosing.
When an item sells, how/when do I get paid out?
When an item listed through w2w sells, you will be paid out in eth directly to the wallet that the item was listed from as soon as the sale processes on the blockchain. In the future, you will be able to specify any payout destination you would like.
What if my Verified NFT is showing as Unverified?
The next step would be to choose the ReSync option on your External Wallet, where your Verified NFT lives, here. This would refresh all existing NFTs in that wallet, resulting in an update of verified ones.
Do all of the benefits of the Nifty Gateway w2w feature apply to all listings?
No, the benefits of our wallet to wallet product only apply to listings made on Nifty Gateway. You can filter the marketplace to see only Wallet to Wallet listings by using the Wallet to Wallet filter.
Can I create a w2w listing for an NFT held in Nifty Gateway custody?
For now, you can only create a w2w listing for an NFT that is held in an ethereum wallet. Soon, you will be able to create a w2w listing for any NFT held in an NG custody account.
Can I use a credit card to purchase a w2w listing?
Currently, you can only purchase w2w listings with your MetaMask eth, but we plan on providing other options, including credit card, in the near future.
Will I be able to take part in Nifty Gateway airdrops and collector drawings while holding the required NFTs in my external wallet?
Yes, as long as the required NFTs are in your external wallet and the wallet is connected to your Nifty Gateway account.
I am not signed up as an Authorized Seller on Nifty Gateway - can I still sell directly from my wallet?
Yes. You do not need to be an authorized seller to make a w2w listing.
Is the Nifty Gateway platform fee going down?
Yes! The Nifty Gateway platform fee is being reduced in half 5% to 2.5%.
New Nifty Gateway Listing System:
What is the new listing system?
Upon the launch of our Wallet to Wallet product, we are also launching V2 of our listings system. The marketplace fee for V2 listings will be 2.5% (and in many cases, further discounts will apply!)
Eventually, all listings on NG will be transitioned over to the V2 listings system. Until that transition is fully complete, we will have two separate listings systems - our V1 and V2 listing systems will co-exist.
Here is a quick summary of the differences:
V1 listings:
- Flat 5% fee
- Credit card, prepaid ETH and Gemini balance payments accepted
- You can only create a V1 listing for an item held in an NG wallet
- You must be an authorized seller to make a V1 listing
V2 listings:
- 2.5% fee
- You can only pay directly with ETH held in an ETH wallet
- You can only create a V2 listing for an item held in an Eth wallet
- Anyone with an ETH wallet can make a V2 listing
We intend on quickly adding additional features, and we are working on fully dissolving the V1 listing system. We estimate that the V1 listing system will be fully dissolved within the next few months, in this all non-Nifty Gateway launched NFTs will be sold via W2W, as we're discontinuing cross-listing on the site directly.
Safety and Security:
Is Nifty Gateway Secure?
Nifty Gateway is owned by Gemini, and we enjoy the many benefits of Gemini’s industry-leading security infrastructure and team. Gemini is a New York Trust company that undergoes regular bank exams and is subject to the cyber security regulations promulgated by the New York Department of Financial Services.
Gemini uses hardware security modules (“HSMs”) that have achieved a FIPS 140-2 Level 3 rating or higher. Like Gemini, Nifty Gateway follows the principle of least-privilege by applying tiered, role-based access-controls to our production environment. Administrative access requires multi-factor authentication and must be accessed from Gemini issued hardware devices.
Do I need to worry about canceling stale listings on Nifty Gateway when I move an NFT from one wallet to another?
No. When you transfer an NFT out of a wallet it is held in, all listings made from that wallet will automatically get canceled. Please be aware that this only applies to listings on Nifty Gateway, and any outstanding listings on other platforms may still be valid if you transfer out to those platforms.
If my Nifty Gateway account is compromised, will the attacker be able to take items held in my wallets?
No. If your Nifty Gateway account is compromised, items still in your external wallets will be safe. However, Nifty Gateway will not be able to help you if your external wallet is compromised. Please be hyper vigilant at all times. Read more about wallet security here.
What is the ‘revoke permissions’ page on Nifty Gateway?
On every NFT marketplace, before you can sell an item you need to give approval to an exchange contract and give that contract permission to transfer your item. Because an exchange contract has the ability to transfer NFTs, it becomes an attack vector for bad actors.
On all marketplaces, the only way to guarantee with absolute certainty that your items can’t be taken through a compromised exchange contract is to revoke permissions. User security is very important for us, so we have built a dashboard where you can easily revoke permissions if you no longer plan to sell an NFT.
Nifty Gateway is the only marketplace that provides a simple and easy dashboard for users to revoke permissions! If you are not planning on selling an NFT from a collection and have previously listed it, we highly recommend that you revoke permissions for that NFT.
